The Gault et Millau is the other French gastronomy guide created in 1972 by Henri Gault et Christian Millau.
Every year its judges award "Toques" (chef hats) to the best eating establishments and Chefs in the country. Based on a 0 to 20 scale, scores can range from 0 to 5 "Toques".
Meilleur Ouvrier de France
Unique to the French Republic, the "Meilleur ouvrier de France" (MOF) title is awarded to the very best artisans and crafts(wo)men of the nation. Every French President is also automatically inducted into the club immediately upon inauguration. This prestigious title is immediately recognized and highly respected across the land by professionals and lay people alike. It is awarded based on quality and consistency of work over time and not in an annual contest type of competition.
Its recipients are the only ones allowed to wear the prized French national tricolors around their tunic collars as a sign of national recognition.
Top 50 Best List
The World's 50 Best Restaurants is a list produced by the British magazine Restaurant, based on a poll of international chefs, restaurateurs, gourmands and restaurant critics. In addition to the main ranking, the Chef's Choice list is based on votes from the fifty head chefs from the restaurants on the previous year's list.
